Border Youth Summit

The date is set. Border Youth Summit II is planned for April 17 - 18, 2010. The first Border Youth Summit was a huge success. Check out the videos on the homepage. The United States and Mexico may be separated by a common border, but youth leaders on both sides of the Rio Grande River know better understanding their similarities and differences can only mean stronger relations and better friendships as they grow into the leaders of the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Mexico. The purpose of the conference is to provide a time and place for Rotary Interact students from both sides of the border to get to know each other and develop lifelong friendships.

For Border Youth Summit II, Club Rotario Matamoros is coordinating the conference. Rotary Interact students from both sides of the border are conducting fundraisers to assist in paying the cost of the conference. In addition to the Rotary Interact students, Rotary Foreign Exchange students are also participating in this bi-national border youth conference. Alex Peña, is coordinating the event. Jim Teeter is chairing the fundraising team. If you are interested in donating to this event, you can contact either the Rotary Club of Harlingen or Club Rotario Matamoros, Mexico. You may also email Jim Teeter from the Harlingen Rotary Club for donation information at jim_viola@msn.com
